The Journey
From Ahmedabad to the World,
and Back Home to Build.
A decade of relentless learning, global experience, and one burning conviction — that the best analytical minds should build things that matter.
The Foundation: Gujarat Technological University
Born and raised in Ahmedabad — India's entrepreneurial heartland — Smit Chandarana developed an early obsession with how computers could make sense of complex systems. His Bachelor's in Computer Science at GTU wasn't just an education; it was the beginning of a deep relationship with data, algorithms, and the art of finding patterns where others saw noise.
The Leap: Northeastern University, Boston
Acceptance to Northeastern University's Master's program in Computer Engineering (IoT) changed everything. Smit packed his bags, left behind everything familiar, and flew 13,000 kilometers to chase a bigger vision. Boston was cold, relentless, and extraordinary. Graduate-level work in IoT and machine learning pushed every boundary he had.
At Northeastern's GeneSys Research Lab, Smit built TensorFlow-based predictive models for wireless charging performance — his first taste of applying ML to real engineering problems at research-grade quality.
First Steps: DreamingCode — Boston
Fresh from Northeastern with a Master's in hand, Smit joined DreamingCode as a Data Analyst. Here, the theoretical met the practical. He developed Excel-based sales reporting systems that reduced reporting time by 12% and designed KPI dashboards that drove a 38% improvement in operational efficiency. Early in his career, but already delivering measurable impact.
Enterprise Scale: TopEdge Inc (Microsoft Contract)
A contract role at TopEdge placed Smit directly inside one of the world's most data-intensive organizations: Microsoft. Working on enterprise-scale infrastructure, he built PySpark ETL pipelines that slashed data processing time by 85%. He automated reporting systems and resolved VM attribute discrepancies — improving data accuracy by 30%. This was the moment his engineering approach matured from functional to world-class.
The Big Leagues: Solize USA Corp — Honda & General Motors
The defining chapter. At Solize USA, Smit was embedded with two of the world's largest automotive companies. For Honda, he migrated entire reporting infrastructure to Power BI, creating scalable server architectures and automating workflows with Python and Selenium — reducing manual effort by 30% and delivering real-time sales dashboards that gave leadership instant operational visibility.
For General Motors, he designed ETL pipelines and automated reporting frameworks that cut report generation time by 50%. He built real-time event monitoring systems using PyWin socket connections, reduced forecast errors by 14% through SKU-level analysis, and improved Agile workflows to cut downtime by 28%.
The Return: Phoenix Solutions is Born
After years in the United States, working at the highest levels of global industry, Smit made a decision that surprised many: he came home. Not because opportunity had dried up — quite the opposite. He came back because he saw something enormous: India's digital transformation was accelerating rapidly, but most organizations lacked access to world-class analytical expertise.
Phoenix Solutions was founded on a simple but powerful idea: the analytical intelligence that powers Fortune 500 decisions should be available to every ambitious organization, anywhere in the world. The name is deliberate — the phoenix rises where it was born, transformed by everything it survived and learned.
Today, Phoenix Solutions serves clients across industries — bringing the same engineering rigor, business acumen, and analytical precision that Smit honed across 7+ years and two continents to every engagement we take on.
