Power BI Developer & Consultant
in India, Working With Teams Worldwide
I am Smit Chandarana, a Power BI developer and consultant based in India. I build dashboards, fix slow and unreliable reports, and automate manual reporting for teams in India, the US, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Fixed price: $1,000 per project.
Does This Sound Familiar?
The reporting problems
people hire me to fix
People stop waiting and go back to Excel. Often a modelling problem, not a data volume problem. See why a Power BI dashboard is slow.
The argument is about definitions, not maths. Read why Power BI disagrees with your Excel.
A good analyst spends the week copying, pasting and reconciling instead of analysing.
Someone downloads a file and pastes it in. That is a process waiting to break.
The dashboard quietly shows last week's numbers. See what to do when a refresh fails.
If they leave, so does your reporting. Documentation is part of every project I deliver.
What You Get
What a Power BI developer
and consultant does
A Power BI developer builds the data model, the DAX measures and the dashboards. A Power BI consultant decides what should be built: which decision each dashboard supports, how metric definitions get agreed, and how reporting stays reliable after launch. You get both from one person, so what is designed is what is built.
Most dashboards fail below the part everyone sees. The charts take an afternoon. The data layer, the definitions and the refresh are where the work is, and where I spend most of the time.

How It Works
From first call
to handover
A single dashboard on one clean source typically takes three to four weeks. Dashboards that combine several systems take longer, because reconciling the sources is most of the work.
Pricing
$1,000 per project.
Fixed.
One project is one clearly defined deliverable, scoped in writing before work starts. For example: one dashboard, one performance fix, or one reporting automation. The price is fixed, so it does not change if the work takes longer than expected.
Bigger goals are split into separate projects, each with its own written scope and price before it begins. Power BI licences (Pro, Premium or Fabric capacity) are bought from Microsoft and are not part of the project price. For a realistic view of everything a Power BI project can involve, read what a Power BI project actually costs.
Describe your reporting problem on the free call and I will tell you what fits in one project and what should be split. Book the call.

Your Options
Consultant, agency,
freelance site or in-house?
| Option | Works best when | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Independent consultant (me) | You have a defined project and want a direct line to the person doing the work | One person means one calendar; the written scope and documentation cover continuity |
| Agency | A large programme that needs many people at once | Layers between you and whoever is building |
| Freelance marketplace | A small one-off task | Quality varies; ask to see a data model, not only ratings |
| In-house hire | Continuous BI work for years | Hiring time, and one person becoming a single point of failure |
A sensible pattern is to bring in a consultant to build the first model properly, then have an internal hire inherit something well structured. More on this in why you need a dashboard expert, not just a tool.
Honest Advice
When you should
not hire me
Build it yourselves. Use the free Power BI audit checklist to review it afterwards.
Excel will do it faster than any project. Check with the Excel to Power BI readiness check.
I am one person, and I would rather not promise what only a team can deliver.
No tool fixes that. Start by agreeing definitions inside your company, then bring me in.

I do, directly. You deal with me from the first call to the handover, with no account managers and no hand-offs.
That is the aim. What I deliver is documented and built for your team to own, and the handover includes a walkthrough with the person who will maintain it.
